Citizen journalist LoyarBurokker Pamela Lim was stopped by the police while on the road. Unhappy with the their conduct she whipped out her phone and started video recording the two police officers. How did the police react? Watch it here @ LoyarBurok.com via our YouTube channel WayangLoyarBurok.

What really happens when the police stops a woman and the woman whips out a camera to film them?
Can the police take your I.C. and not give it back? Were they threatening and intimidating me?
Watch to find out and give your comments.

Hey, If you guys don't know the law, please don't simply comment here on whether Pamela is wrong or not. She has the right to refuse to follow the police to the police station if she is not told she is under arrest.
Read the law from the Redbook pamphlet download here (http://www.malaysianbar.org.my) regarding what to do if you are not under arrest
pamela…you are dumb…why scribble the police summon? nothing else better to do ah? u broke the law…accept the summon..simple..why talking about ur rights and all to them…take the summon and shut up la…what did they do to u? they only doing their jobs…you provoke them for what? they looked annoyed…you scribble on the summon…taking a video…for what? did they ask for bribe?? you stupid or what…if they got misconduct then make a report against them la…this is not misconduct from them…they are just telling you off…u talk about being a malaysian and your rights…you cant speak the national language also…so arrogant…yes we all bitch abt the cops at times…but there are some that also do their work…remember that…u look like u r underestimating them cos they cant speak english like you do…not cool!
yes she is brave.. but she is rude and proud.. im here not to rude.. but she is real bitch.. if she had very well known about law, she will not record this.. this is privacy violated.. she cant record sumbody which refuse to been record.. she made a sum well mistakes here, provoke a police, interfere wif police business, privacy violated.. n summore speedy… sory to say.. but u are the one who are real dumbass here… PWND !!! epic fail.!!
I totally agreed to what Pamela had commented explaining rigorously from her perspective. As a citizen. She has all the rights to be defensive and so does the police force. But in this case, the police were too prideful to realize their blunder that they make while on camera.
Logically, if the police states your offense and you've acknowledged it. You'll be issued a summon immediately. However, in Malaysia they've added Option number 2. Bribery. That's so not cool. Besides, it's a greater offense to bribe an officer who has no ID badge. (suspicious).
There was once in Singapore that my friend and I were flagged by the police for speeding. We were quite amazed by their efficiency because they issued a summon immediately right outside of the window. My friend was obviously at fault but the point here is that the police force is doing their job instead of trying to sweet talk with the driver into bribery as a solution.
I guess people are watching too much TV these days? They say stuff like "oh you can't film in public or policemen…" Well, get your facts right and learn your rightfully own rights as a citizen. There is NO law whatsoever in MALAYSIA that you CANNOT film in public or with authorities involved. Well, at least the police knows YouTube. The only English word I could understand. Police officer challenging citizenship? Is that racism I'm sensing here? And never ever be discriminated or fearful because of your race or the language that you speak. If an Englishman asks the policeman for directions, is he gonna expect otherwise? YouTube? Google Map?
Plus, who say women are minority and have no rights to speak up? I really admire Pamela for her courage to stand up while she was ALONE! Have you thought about that?
Thank you, Pamela. This will be a precedent to all people especially the women in this country.
handsfree means handsfree, if u r holding the phone its not handsfree. Just sign the summon and move on, no need to argue.
the police held the ic as Pam has been arrogant and denied the fact that she committed an offence and made it difficult for the police. they were doing their job whatever it is.
I was stopped 2 days ago for cutting lanes in KL at Pandan Rounabout. The police however was professional to let me know my offence and i accepted it. However, they let me off with a warning. They didnt ask for bribe.
Therefore have some good spirit and faith in the people in uniform whatever race they are.
You are a stubborn fool. If I were the police officers, I wud have taken you out of the car and handcuffed you and make you wait 1 hour for a patrol car to arrive and take you to the police station and cite you again. Probably make you spend a nite in jail. For god's sake have some bloody courtesy for somebody who is trying to do his job. Just because you are upset that you are being summoned, it does not mean that you can scribble anything on an official Govt document. I pray that the policemen did make the police report and a police officer will come around and take you to the police station and cite you again for you second offence. may you suffer long and hard bitch.
To all who said Pam was arrogant and what not…..I wonder what was your agenda…obviously you guys are not in the "professional and managerial" group!!
Pam had said she was wrong and willing to accept the summon. She has the right the video record the events as long as the action does not cause trouble, hindrance, danger, etc to others. The two police officer should act professionally, even though under such minor provocation unless they themselves are in the wrong!!! like are they trying to extort money?? or are they trying to kidnap Pam or perhaps later rape her like poor Cannny Ong???
Pam has said she felt intimated and scared and she will not followed them to a station. Pam too was within her rights. The next best step for the police to do is to call up back up with a policewoman in tow. Then it would be wrong for Pam not to follow instructions.
Pam was also within her rights to scribble on the summons, as long as what she did do not deface the summon till unreadable. Perhaps what was written on the summon may not reflect the true incident; however on making such scribbling, one would need to initial it!!
No one has the right to take away another person's ID card, or driving licence. If the need is there, then one would have to issue a receipt for it. Thus, Pam was right to say that the police has stolen her documents if it was not returned.
In summary, Pam may appear arrogant to those who are ignorant, but to me, as one who frequently deals with complains from customers, she is not. She has acted reasonably well under duress of stress / fear. If I am the police officers' superior, I would advise them to act more professionally and to send them for courses/ workshops….
FB lead me to this link… and SHAME ON YOU PAMELA!
Luckily the two policemen were cool enough else they will get into shit because of you!
I honestly think they could have easily cuffed you and called for a patrol car to take you for vandalizing official document but didn't want to waste too much of their time lor.. how do you sleep peacefully at night knowing you publicized this video on purpose and in it is proof that you like to play mind games with your own country's police force? well.. I hope you enjoy the rotten publicity that you'll be receiving anyway.
You sound like a run of the mill high school attention whore too.
Come on Pamela, you where stopped for an offence. "hak sebagai rakyat" does not mean you can intimidate. Admit it, you intimidated the officers. You scribbled on a summon, and that is certainly not your right. If you think you have done no wrong, then appeal. This is just want we don't need. A few bad apples is not a bad tree my dear.
i dont understand how Pam's accent can be an issue here. typically reflects some Malaysians ignorant attitude. Pam is discussing on the attitudes of police, and what she did at that time to defend her rights. but instead her accents and use of language is highlighted instead which are unimportant.
but kudos to Pam for knowing your rights. your reaction wasnt the best, but its certainly not wrong either.
This is what they mean one malaysia ( All DAMN POLICE @ kopi kopi police haha ) PAMELA you doing a right thing but pls dont write anything to this summon the kopi police will get a reason to kacao you … Good job pamela!!!!!
Use your brain before u talk, and please go slap your moral teachers, cause they didn't teach you well…
Gosh, that attitude was totally uncalled for. :(
Did you fail your SPM or summat? I see that you can't even speak simple Bahasa Malaysia. I'm a Singh and I take no sides racially but from a neutral point of view, it's safe to say that you're a wanna-be, just like EXTREMEGAMER! (N)
i tell u 1 thing la, u beh song.. u lai ucpro find me.. 1v1
Meet June, lawyer and aspiring actress. In Hulu Selangor, she played Lady Baba, the star of a comic video series by legal community site Loyar Burok. Lady Baba met KKB natives and party workers, asking? questions like: "What does 'by-election' mean? Is it like 'bi-sexual'?"
lady baba, your face and your details already all over the place..
you want to be famous isn't it..
now you have a chance.. LOL
she wants to act cool o.. she thinks she making tis video will earning meni sympathy markah.. but her plan backfire ne…
kena bomb like tahi ni..
tmd tis type pattern see oso sien. go home fly kapal terbang la..
your tis type standard.. play you like toy la if i am the police.. throw lai throw qu . o0o go dai
Pam, you come on as a spoilt brat. This whole episode is uncalled for. The cops would not have stop you if you have not committed a traffic offfence. And when you were asked to sign on the document, you started to scribble on it which is an offence of destroying Govt property. Over and above it, you started to video them which definitely put them on the defensive mode and got angry!
If you expect to be treated with respect, you need to be more polite. Yes, they are tax payers' servant but they are not SLAVES, pl remember that.
In the US, they would throw her in jail for pulling a stunt like this. Downright arrogant driver. Claiming she was frightened takes the cake, what a sham!!
Clearly, the police were just trying to do their job. If you try to act smart and start writing on police property, they will drag you out of your vehicle and read you your right after handcuffing. If you refuse to go with the police, like she's doing here, US police will not hesitate to whip out their batons and subdue such hostile and aggressive behavior.
Believe me, if the driver was in any other country, she wouldn't behave this way. Such hypocrisy!!
there is no need to mention this "you ought to know that I am the descendent of Malaya’s first court interpreter, Peter Lim & can trace back four generations" BITCH~!
Guys lets not get the race issue on this, well, for Pamela, here's a thought to consider and ponder…. it's called tone and manner…..
I've been stopped many many times, i drive a luxury car and it was always my fault, not wearing seat belts, most times, running red lights but oh yeah once talking on the phone…. In most times, i say sorry, i get a bit of tongue lashing and after a few minutes, they let me off, i'm not malay and am a guy ke ke ke just in case some fool comments because i'm Malay they let me off.
The hp incident, i would have been fined 3k i think it was bout 5 years ago, not sure, paid RM50, the sergeant was a nice enough to let me off…. but i want to share with you, that everyone is a human, when we make mistakes, we are expect to apologize la,
Pamela my advice, knowing our rights is one thing but if we are fault, we must also be graceful enough to accept our mistake. I love all the work done by CJ, but we must also be mind not to arrogant when we are in the wrong. If, that was the case, if not, there are many ways to circumvent any given problems, question is, do you feel that how you reacted was right????
reflections on this video, a few day later will clear your state of mind.
^lolwut. chill bro. ppl got kelisa yo ! big time pageant queen
fu.ck u arrogant bitch.. im driving bmw also not acting like uneducated anus like u.. u should go die.. this earth not belong to u anymore
Joel S, amen to that!
Pamela, how old are you?
Did you learn english to sound smart? Just because they are malay officers who obviously can't speak english as good as you doesn't mean they do not know the law, and that they should be treated so disrespectfully you elitist fool.
You go about blabbering about your rights but WHAT exactly are you rights?
Do you have the right to refuse a direct order from a law enforcer? (oh, you're just the police, no need to heed. Pamela, why don't you ram into a police car, have them chase you with sirens, and maintain that attitude of yours — drive away obliviously!)
Do you have the right to scribble on his summon pad? (hey mr policemen, I can write better than you, here, let me! Shall we all keep summon pads as we do cheques? We're speaking of authority here and you crossed the line.)
Do you have the right to film someone who DOES NOT WANT TO BE FILMED? You have the right to PROVOKE our officers? ( I am not too clear about this. But when I want to film something, I am required to sign permits, as well as hand out release forms. And just as you can expound on your right to film, they too have the right NOT TO BE FILMED. Go figure)
Also, could you kindly fix your accent? I had a hard time listening without cringing every 3 seconds. Typical spoilt chinese brat. The police ain't your dad, you don't just go "hmmph! no! I don't want!" and walk away from consequences.
What's worst, you have your ID plastered all over youtube — what a shame. Should've seen it coming lol
The SOP is to stop the vehicle at a safe spot , demand to see ID/License , let the driver know the nature of offense and to issue a summon on the spot .
With minimal conversation. That is the rule.
The police as in the video are taking their own sweet time and had "hoped" for some Kopi O.
Note the time delaying tactics and his "order" that the driver is to follow him back to the police station.
His 'order" is not an order after all.
Did Pamela wrote something or that is her signature?
Since she received her summon , it is her property now .
Was the chubby policeman chewing a gum ? Or is the chubby policeman having neuron problems with his jaws?
The main problem is the quality of cops and the types of training they got from Pulapol.
wah! email me [email protected] – can't u told Pam the phone of your police frens instead? even though your gave the informations, daniel posting seemed more suspicion than the vids. Pam b careful this guy, mbbe hes the fake police in the vids
Daniel… Fake cop issue summons? Weird…
Well said Dr Pang…
So many differing opinions, so many viewpoints, each trying to sound reasonable and justified.
More importantly, what are the ramifications of this whole episode?
Has it made Malaysia a better place to live in, or has it merely created two more Perkasa-minded Malays who in the past just wanted to put food on the family's table?
Has it really educated more Malaysians to be more conscious about their rights or has this video embolden more Pamela-like characters to resort to the Queen's language when in fear and under threat?
Has the video proven that Malaysian police are corrupted bastards or has it instead sealed the stigma of Chinese Malaysians as an arrogant holier-than-thou community who looks down on their Malay brethen by saying "do you understand what this word means?"
Do we really have to be 'victims' of police before commenting on this video or can anyone with the least of common sense and basic Pendidikan Moral see that the so-called victim was in fact the agent provocateur here?
If I say that I have been through similar circumstances, will Pamela's fans be more receptive to this comment?
I support more Namewees who speak up when others don't, but I think Malaysia needs less of Pamelas such as this.
Ibrahim Ali will thank Pamela for gaining him two new believers.
Pamela, please think about the ripple effect of your actions in the future.
I wonder how the two cops will behave with their next Chinese offender.
I use to accept summons under protest because one police hides somewhere under some bush and walkie talkie to another another 500 metres around a corner accusing me of crossing double lines.
It happens in Puchong road leading to Subang all the time. Now I make a recording of it and keep it on my phone and when the police accuses me, I play back for them. Otherwise, I cannot fight them but accept the summon under protest.
In the event I need to go to court, I tell the judge the whole story and it is up to him/her to judge me. I uses this stretch of highway almost daily and I never cross the double line.
Police are just licensed robbers lah in Malaysia. Accept this as a fact and protect ourselves. If you are a girl NEVER follow them to anywhere… not even to a police station.
What happen if they leads you to a padang somewhere and rape you??? Vagina also picah and get murdered like Canny Ong loh!!!!!
Remember writing a remarks was allowed on the old summons. But not now? How come and who changed this? Under what offense was Pam stopped?
Taking pictures or video is fine unless you use them for financial gain then its illegal. But could not understand why the policemen are so offended. They should conduct themselves professionally to show others how an officer goes about with their daily duty.
One thing for sure, Malaysia is slowly declining to becomes a failed state. "River of no-return" shall be sing by most Malaysian in the coming future.
I dunno why everyone criticise Pamela. I think Pamela has acknowledged to the police that she is wrong and willing to accept the summon. I dunno why the police take so long to issue the summon and behave like this. why so easily have to go police station????? is it safe to go police station??? if we wrote something wrongly, the police at least should advise nicely, not saying "hey, u sangat pandai tulis summon sendiri……." why a "professional police" talk like this….. why took people IC and license for so long…..
Some are cops are also fake, though not alot. The problem is how can one tell who is fake, and if by demanding to go to a police station to confirm their identities the police themselves are going to purposely cause more trouble because they lose face.
If not like Pam said, she might have been in danger. Remember Cammy Ong? Well in this case it is not a psycho but potentially a psycho dressed as the police. Has anyone confirmed if these guys are REAL police yet? How do citizens protect themselves against this sort of rubbish, especially if they are posing as plainclothes and are antagonistic, or even racist?
Malaysia isn't a healthy environment anymore because of APARTHEID and without an IPCMC. We can't even get Local Council Elections back up and are under the thumb of political parties and corruption!
I was stopped by a police car last week and was told that my drivers window was heavily tinted. I just bought the vehicle and was approved by JPJ/Puspakom. There is a sticker still there!
They wanted money but I refused. I asked them why was I stopped and what was my offence. They could not! The police patrol took my identity particulars and left!
This happened on Duke highway!
Dear Pam,
YOU MAY HAVE BEEN CONNED!
I have been trying to contact you, but have no idea how to…please email me [email protected]. First thing clear, you are very likely a lucky victim of fake police officers. Notice their uniform, belts, are suspicious, even guns?
1. Those uniforms are not PDRM uniforms. Not traffic, not FRU or off duty, no such thing as an off duty police uniform.
2. The belts and boots of the police is even more suspicious.
3. So they have a gun, but looking at the pistol placement, and model, I may conclude..these are fake police officers.
4. A constable is directing a lance corporal to issue a summon.
5. There is no ID number attached to their uniform, if you don't trust me, just go to a police station and look at a police uniform…u will see immediately the difference.
Because it may concern the danger of other citizens and PDRM image, I have forwarded your video to the Chief Police of Selangor. He needs more information from you to check on this possible fake police officers. So please contact me asap.
Who knows what they really want? Money? or rape? You have the number plate of their motorcycle..please contact me asap, I will let you liase directly with the police.
I am acting on behalf of a concern citizen and please contact me asap, as we need to protect the safety of others as well.
Thank you.
Daniel
Pamela, I just have this to say. The police force as a whole may have a very tarnished reputation but in this case, you were in the wrong. Towards the end of the video clip, it was pretty obvious, the 2 chaps relented and kept asking you why you were doing that to them. Honestly, what you had done was sheer arrogance.
Good Job Pam,
We should know our rights…The police should learn to just write the summon, issue it to the suspected offender and walk away..and its up to the suspect to take it to court if any objection..
intimidation must stop from the police..they should know in their line of work, they will come accross all kinds of people..they should just stick to their SOP…
Sorry… I think you are the one who create the scene… I know many of us got bad experience with police i.e the bad one who ask duit kopi but this situation clearly show that you too should be blame by filmed them and write on the summons… Ask yourself will you easily let someone filming you without you argue anything? Like others said… We dont ask for respect but we deserve… Dan sebagai rakyat malaysia cubalah belajar bahasa malaysia… Mungkin ianya boleh membantu komunikasi anda….
Good job Pam and knowing your rights.
The cops need to learn how to handle situations better. Or wait, was it just a stop for pocket money and intimidation?
And to those racist and uncalled for comments, you folks need to grow up. You are not much better than these pathetic cops.
Dear Pam,
Thats was very rude of you. As far as this clip is concerned , i would love to see you behind bars for that attempt..That was rude and provocative.. Kudos to the police for keeping cool..
Dear Pamela,
That was absolutely rude of you. If you were stopped for an offense, accept the summons. If you were not happy with the summons, argue it in court. You did not have to behave and talk obnoxiously and rude; your sarcasm definitely wasn't called for.
I have to agree with TheNeutral, Birdie and Guna. I am against police misusing their powers, but i can't support someone with an obnoxious attitude who's very molehill knowledge of the law makes them think they know a mountain, either.
PL, I THINK U DID THE RIGHT THING. THE POLICE HAVE NO RIGHT TO TAKE YOUR IC NOR YOUR DRIVERS LICENCE. YOU HAVE STATED YOUR RIGHTS CLEARLY. I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND WHY THE OTHER COMMENTATORS WANT YOU TO BE APOLOGETIC TOWARDS THEM POLICE. IF WE KEEP BENDING BACKWARDS FOR THEM, THEY WILL WALK ALL OVER US. WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO KNOWS THE LAW. THANKS.
She didnt get good screw for a long time….wasting police time only
stupid Pamela…
Thank heaven these are the last days of feudalism on earth – and not a moment too soon. Feudalism is what creates an artificial caste system so the privileged few at the top of the power pyramid can mind-control the all the levels below. Being a cop or soldier ranks at the bottom – you are programmed to see yourself as a nobody and only can enjoy a sense of power by serving some powerful figure, like an Orang Besar or Raja or Tan Sri or Tun (even Datuks and Datuk Seris can be arrested and beaten up in the polis lockup since the era of Dr M). To these two cops someone like Pamela is completely bewildering because she refuses to act like a scared sheep. Instead she behaves like a Toh Puan or at least a rich Datin. Yet she isn't being chauffeured around in a luxury limo. How dare a middle class Chinese female act so uppity? This sort of confrontation will occur more and more as we make a quantum jump into the next evolutionary phase. It will be even more dramatic than shifting from analog to digital. Those unable to adapt will resort to crude violence or regress into subhuman behaviors. The only way the problem can be resolved is for more and more of us to have Pamela's feisty attitude towards the emblems of false authority. When we are the overwhelming majority, there will be a massive change of management (from benighted to enlightened, one hopes) across the entire planet, not just in Malaysia.
Fake identity, incidentally obstructing police in the course of duty is a criminal offence. Unauthorised scribbling on government offical forms is vandalism which is also a criminal offence. I am just being objective and I have no interest in this case.
You know, there's a few points that you should take note:
1) You should speak bahasa with them and not english, bahasa is national language, although being said that english is international language but in Malaysia, you need to know both and know when to use each of them.
2) You are suppose to follow the law, not oppose it, sometimes the oppositions thinking is taking you too far, you can oppose anything you like in an open discussion or a forum but when u're caught by authority for breaching the law, you're liable to it, fighting back doesn't mean you're right and winning the fight doesn't make you a true winner.
3) scribble on summon, is another offence of not following police's instruction since there wasn't anything wrong with asking you to sign on the summon, so you committed 2 offences.
I may not know the whole story, but if you were to be slightly more tolerate(and when actually you're suppose to be polite and showing apologetic manner) to just sign the summon, i believe everything will be alright.
Ultimately, it's the kiasuness(afraid to lose) in your own personality that causes all these, as an adult yourself you're really showing everyone your imbecile actions.
Fake identity,
No need to get too hot under your collar. We are objectively discussing the merits of the case. Legally speaking, for whatever reason if the police is not satisfied with your explanation or cooperation they can request you to go to the police station for further investigation. If it is a criminal offence it becomes seizable and you will be arrested on the spot. As to why they took so long to issue the summons is another matter. I am only commenting on the legality of the detaining of IC and the request to go to the police station.
Pam, what a rude, self-serving attention seeking fornicator you are.. Sengaja nak cari pasal. Tak hormat undang-undang. Is it because the policemen are Malay that you acted in a so kurang-ajar manner? In other countries, they would probably have cuffed you and slapped your Chinese face flat on the ground.
Yes, your taxes pay their salary but then they are not your slaves.
Enough apologies, I wonder what the Chinese businessmen say to me just coz they think I don't understand Mandarin, Hokkien or Cantonese.. huh?
1Malaysia will never happen, because of people like you who carry a not-so-hidden agenda…
