whatever,
Attitude in this incident is not irrelevant. In fact it is central to the whole discussion because the response evoked is always influenced by the attitude displayed. The policemen may be unprofessional which granted is indefensible but two wrongs do not make a right. No, we are not kidding you…..vandalising official documents is an offence just as stealing 10 sen can land you in jail. The pettiness of the offence can only be a mitigating factor but it does not exonerate you from guilt.
The situation is deeply sad. Both the driver and the police. Both had made a mistake. The problem is when one of the other does not want to back down. This create tension for both parties. One should remember when you break the law, there is an enforcer to remind you. Simple – Accept and Pay the Fine. The driver who clearly says she is a Malaysian, could not communicate well in Bahasa to the police, she then ask what does a particular word means. Come on. These are young policemen who could barely speak proper English. An intelligence is not in his/her education but is when you are able connect with the lesser. The police on the other hand is not threatening her per say, but intimidate. These are different in meaning and usage altogether. They should be cool in managing the situation as a policemen. It shows a lack of training the policemen receives in the academy.
Dear Pam
Keep filming! Society needs to get used to standing up for proper treatment, and the police need to learn decorum and manners.
Thank you for creating a nationwide net debate on this issue. Rational, mature Malaysians will prevail!
And I am an asshole
Alright I am a sucker. I shouldn't have supported Pam. I just was force to defend her. I know, she is a bitch!
I dont understand why is everyone talking bout her attitude problem. Does it even matter if she's being cocky or bitchy or whatever u wanna call it ? Her attitude is irrelevant. The fact is the policemen were not professional enough in handling this case.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNNz5kl4w-A&fe…
watch the video above, and that's how they should have acted. Yes she was wrong for scribbling/drawing on the book, and they ask her to go to the police station for that ? U got to be kidding me
I think your attitude and bitchy remarks in the video is hard for Malaysian to accept. Don't bring up racial issues or which descendants you are from. That doest justify your bitchy tone.
perempuan bodoh!! ko tersangatla bodoh sbb rakam kesalan u sendiri.. terima je la yg ko 2 buat salah n layak dsaman.. xyah nk malukn diri sndiri dgn merakam perbuatan bodoh u 2.. klau u masuk makamah pown u mmg 100% salah.. nk minta simpati konon.. makin org benci ngko la bangang!!
Elok la.. harap lepas ni dia kena rogol n bunuh pastu polis tak yah tolong, diam sudah… huhuhu
I never liked cops. I know they just want duit kopi (bribe) and stuff, and i know that they wont be very nice towards u if u're not offering them any cash. but in this particular case, the bitch is just waaaaaaaayyyy over the limit, and im actually rooting for the cops. if i were the cop, i would've stuffed the summons inside her mouth just to get her to stop talking for a while. when a girl gets this bitchy, u dont really care whether she's wrong or right. u just wanna slap her real hard on the face. maybe the police lacked professionalism. but the bitch definitely lacked manners. it was supposed to be a routine of "u used phone while driving, im giving u the summons". but i guess u're not content with that, u just cant help but to make a big fuss over it. i hope u're enjoying the cheap publicity and the attention u're getting.
Police can take your IC, they have the rights. And you lost your rights when you do not resspect other people. If they dont work, you claim polis makan gaji buta, TNB cibai la. next time org suruh jadik polis, dont complain gaji kecik or no class. respect people first, then we can talk about your rights
bodoh dan belagak punya perempuan…nanti ko kene ragut ke kene rogol ke jgn mintak tolong dgn polis, belagak nak mamposss
A rude lady was trying to be brave by filming others. So not Malaysian.
Maybe i can start filming you and put it on facebook. call yourself a journalist? duh…
hi JK.yap,
"Pam, at your age, with all your experience in life as a malaysian, your profession as a journalist, its a shame seeing u react in such attitude. a big sigh for you Pam…. grow up.. SHOW RESPECT! =)"
She could have been the next Cammy Ong if these 2 fake police got too 'excited'. Her fear caused the rudeness to these faker, also the state of 'psychological duress' immediately imposed by the so-called 'authority figures'.
How many roadblock shooting cases have occured that we feel in danger when these strangers with weapons approach us in a country that has obviously APARTHEID laws?
This antagonistic behaviour did not look intentional, and the fake police brought out the worst in her. You can't blame her for feeling threatened and responding in self preservation can you? Why are all you guys attacking her? Why the twisted sense of justice when we know there are loose canons (literally) among our 3 month training cops???
Generally its a bribe both real and fake police seek. Otherwise it could become a shooting simply out of spite in extreme cases, and who would be the wiser? Good on Pam for running circles around these creeps. The mind is a strange thing and Pam's courage borne of fear has given us ALL strength to challenge the wrongs of society, the false among our protectors.
Once again in a site full of lawyers, I ask – Whats the protocol for CITIZENS for determining which police or roadblocks are REAL? Is there a roadblock schedule or website for each district detailing who our REAL police are? Don't even mention plain clothes police, even greyer area . . .
They are certainly not the police – they are not wearing all of the items which come together with the blue uniform – from the silver buttons with the police crest, to the integrity batch, the PDRM lapel pins, their identity number. The shoulders seem bare. Even the motorbike is suspect. Even the blue is not typically the same as the ones worn by the police. If you want to be doubly sure, go to the PDRM website – Bukit Aman or any of the state police – you can see the many discrepancies. Obviously, you've been duped…
Its important to know your rights as a malaysian, but whats more important is RESPECT, you dont have the right attitude by responding to them that way, even if they insulted u at the first place, you dont need to insult them back right? you were a little too arrogant, you asked them whether they understand english? but do you understand malay at the firstplace? why must they speak fluent english? why cant you speak fluent malay instead? all your intention was to educate the people of their rights, i respect your intentions(if that really is true) but at the same time, you showed everyone your arrogance and disrespect, PDRM really doesnt hv a good reputation, but i believe not all police officers are like that, one thing i really dont understand, whats the point telling them ure scared? SCARED?? if you are unhappy, you feel its unfair.. argue it in court, complain to the relevant department. Pam, at your age, with all your experience in life as a malaysian, your profession as a journalist, its a shame seeing u react in such attitude. a big sigh for you Pam…. grow up.. SHOW RESPECT! =)
This my point of view regarding this case.A simple cari makan case had turn into a big scene with many opinion.Even though pamela claim that the cops is out looking of duit kopi.It was never recorded on video showing the cops asking/hinting at it.But I also think pamela's claim is true.
Then pamela who claim to be a descendant of Malaysia official with a close tie to our late prime minister(s) complaint that the cops mumble in Bahasa Malaysia in which she cannot understand. How come you don't understand our national language?
When the cops finally decided to issue the summon pamela refuse to sign(Though in her writing she admit guilty of the offense) but put her own remark on that summon book. Why did you do that?If you didn't want to admit guilty why not fight in court, remember you have this recording as your proof.
The cops uniform did look suspicious.Pamela did the right thing by questioning them. But pamela need I remind you that even though we(you,me & others) paid taxes which then uses to pay this cops salaries. The cops & all other goverment official are not our slaves to command.
we should treat them with respect,god-will in return they will treat us with rspect too. You're a person of faith didn't you.put some faith in peoples. So in this case, you didn't display a slightest hint of respect towards the cops judging by the tone of your voices. What i heard is you making fun of them(maybe unintentionaly).
Conclusion both parties were wrong.cops with their bad conduct & pamela no respect for others.
For other commenter remember that peoples who got their salaries from taxes are NOT YOUR SLAVES.
Bar council give the right to lawyer to scribble on the saman wan.. This lawyer thinks that she is above everyone when she salah, so try to video tape the police to get sympathy..
There are some people, when life isn't giving them what they wanted, they blame the government, they blame the race, they blame the corruption, they blame the cops, they blame everything around them but not themselves. Just admit that you shouldn't be talking on the phone while driving, should not scribble on the saman and don't be bitchy when you are in the wrong in the first place.
Completely agreed with James. I don't see anything wrong with the policeman, in fact the first policeman was smiling at her. Why are you scared to go to police station when its during day-time and have their vehicle no. and their name? Clear show that u are not willing to coperate with the policemen. Lets not talk about Rights la because all of us know our Right very well. If u feel unsecure and unsure, you can always make a quick call to the nearest police station and info them about your current situation…(hey u call 112 emergency line).
Clearly PAMELA LIM is a PYSCHO FREAK. My advise to you… fix your attitude before its too late.
And to the other…I dont understand why are you guys being races. Just because the policemen happen to a malay guy that doesn't give u any right to talk bad about MALAY or UNMO here. Come n people, GROW UP!!!
To Pamela, police are wrong in holding back your IC and license. But the way you talk and act on the video.. I feel that you are provoking the police. Where you learn to act and talk like that, in the law school?
Pam,
GOOD ON YOU! For having the courage to stand up for your rights!
To all those criticising you, remember, cops are here to serve US, THE CITIZENS. Not the other way around.
To all those who say "we must respect the cops.." That's what our education system and politicians have over the years intimidated us into believing this bullshit. In a democracy, we are all equal. Respect has to be earned, it's not a right.
Don't let the cops intimidate us with their bullets, guns, capsicum sprays and batons!
Go Pam! I'm proud of you. You ARE a role model. May Allah give you peace and protection.
How many people actually watched the video properly?
Does that look like a real police uniform to you?
Instead of speculating, why not just wait for the official statement from Bukit Aman?
Its sad to see that many of us decided it is better to succumb to the police demand, whether legal or not.
Have we forgotten that it is us, RAKYAT MALAYSIA that paid for their salary? Have we forgotten that the PDRM is being formed and hired to protect us and to enforce the Malaysia Law? Besides that, the PDRM are supposed to perform their duties ethically and professionally at all times?
To me, if those two police have acted professionally, all these will not happened. If they have done no wrong, they will not feel intimidated. FYI, in US, every police patrol car is being equipped with video recorder.
With so many cases of fake police & rape, the lady here is just trying to exercise her rights to protect herself. There is no law in Malaysia that said We, RAKYAT MALAYSIA, cannot take video or photos while in the process of being saman.
Dear fellow RAKYAT MALAYSIA, its time to wise up that the PDRM is here to serve and protect us professionally, ethically and with dignity and its certainly not the other way round.
Can the policeman take the IC and driving licence ? Is it lawful ?
For goodness sake, Pamela had already explained that before the video started the polis was out to cari makan (she posted in this blog on what happened before the video starts.) The polis also wasted so much time hanging around her car. They should just issue the saman and leave. If she has done something more serious then arrest her. Why wasting time there. I have experienced so many times that polis force here is spending their time "entrepreneuring" making money for themselves.
When you report a crime to them they say "biasa lah, sudah banyak kes macam ini, tak cukup kakitangan". Yet they put their priority and valuable man hours on people using handphone without hand free etc. Every single officer only have 8 hours a day, make a guess yourselves how much time they use for "entrepreneuring" while our fellow citizen being robbed, killed and hurt by criminals. One of my friend was robbed. The thief took his sweet time to come back to return her IC and complained not enough money in her bag. So brave to come back because he knows our Polis is slow and busy on something else.
For those who criticise Pam, you do not know what she is doing for us. She is bringing to our attention that the polis is not doing what they should be doing, go and fight serious crime. How many times have you seen polis spending time lurking behind trees and pillars try to trap you for using hand phone etc. How many times have you heard of the polis setting up traps to catch snatchers? All I have heard was "apa kami boleh buat, mereka lari cepat". How many friends of yours have been subjected to snatch thieves. Yet these polis would rather spend their time "entrepreneuring". Very sickening and to add insult to injuries, we pay so much tax and hence we pay for their salaries. On top of that we have to pay security guards to guard our housing estate while the Polis are not spending their resources to protect us.
Wake up, Pam is doing us a favour. The way she deals with the two Polis is not very tasteful but the more important point here is that the Polis force here is not doing a good job in bringing down the crime rate.
sorry man, but im not UMNO's member, and i disagree with her attitude, being there in her shoes before, i know that's not a bright decision to make. Because her bravado might lead to bad ending.
Pamela, you did the right thing. Ignore the critics, it is obvious , those who defend the police (legal gangsters) are the UMNO malays. You can draw a comparison, this is the same way UMNO defends the legal gangsters (police). Now lets talk, the police does not have any fucking authority to hold other peoples IC/Driving License. And for the UMNO retards who say Pamela intimidated the police, do you not think the act of the asshole at the early part of the video is not an intimidation……wait a minute you UMNO bastards can’t even think. A great job Pamela well done
@civilian :
(1) are you trying to tell us that she is a pyscho..? if so, then we can understand lah whe she acted like that..
NO. Look up the dictionary for 'Psychism'. Being aware of your subconscious is not being psycho. Conversely pretending that it does not exist breeds psychosis. That is also the basis of EQ and lateral thought, which some people obviously do not have at all.
(2) yet another attempt to divert the issue.. what’s next..? her sixth sense told her that the two officers were possessed by somekind of hantu and have been following her from her house..?
NO there is nothing next. He sixth sense told her these cops were bogus thats all. Look whos diverting the issue or putting words in people's mouths?
Your approval and indirect defense of them shows you are in league with these goons somehow. Why do you hate your fellow citizens or are part of a group like?
There are more levels of reality than the physical one we are living in day to day. Pam's subconscious (1 level away from waking consciousness, like when in prayer anothe level is accessed) warned her she was in danger, so she responded accordingly, though not necessarily appropriately.
In any case IPCMC is not yet implemented by BN against the Ruler's Collective's wishes (another reason to not vote BN) and the lousier PDRM personnel are known for abuses of all types which even in some clear cut cases have been completely ignored and unpunished while in the open, continuing this moment, simply because of patronage by VIPs and government.
That is why BN is going down, even though PR itself is starting to have Sand Mining cases and Ronnie Liu cronies as well. Pam had displayed her skillful sixth sense and is to be learnt from not scolded. These things are not easily learnt, as we should thank her for the opportunity she (and her subconsious) gives us in the video.
I really think you went too far, you just dont respect the law in nature and your talking about law.
who are you to scribble on the saman ?
police are humans too, u talk nicely, they will too ………..
Please reflect urself in the mirror, even "rakyat" are against u
encik sokalingam..
penat lah nak explain berkali2.. saya rasa encik yang patut tengok video tu berkali2..
u cakap macam malaysia ni zimbabwe or ethiopia pulak.. u baru mari sini ka..? banyak sangat doubts..
susah lah macam ni
When I watch the video I got a little angry.. not at the cops but a you Pamela.
I know PDRM's reputation deserves no respect but in the video you behave worse than the cops.
One can easily tell you are one of those overseas educated yuppy, Westernized or American spoilt brat who like to show off your English prowess belittling others.
The first cop wasn't really rude when he asked why you were filming him. He didn't even try to stop you he just asked why. He even joked,"….nanti jumpa dekat YouTube ya?"………….
Btw just what did you scribble on the summons?
why so many of you are so dum to understand that the cops here are so fake in doing their duty. Firstly, they do have their uniform but do you guys notice that they are not wearing their badges and their badge number at least the other guy is trying to hide his badge number with his book. Secondly the police have her id and they are asking her who is she as if she is a foreigner. Please people look at this video clearly and understand that we the citizen of malaysia have our rights to do the right thing and make changes with the new IGP at the helm maybe he will know what's really going on with our police force and make the necessary changes.
if i were the policeman, i would've record Pamela's holier-than-thou act and publish the vid on youtube as well. Why? Well since by Pamela's logic, everyone has their right to record whatever they like isn't it? So if one pervert record another girls panties, he could also say he has the right to do so? Failed bimbo acting all high and mighty behind a monitor and keyboard. Typical. tsk tsk….
@sake : "Another point to note is that she is ALONE and not a MALAY, and that makes her an easy target for the small fry cops."
so now its all about race huh? Why not turn it this way, SHE ACTED THAT WAY BECAUSE THE POLICE OFFICERS HAPPEN TO BE MALAY!
Please dont be biased. What if she is a Malay and doing the same thing? Will you defend her like what you did now? I doubt it.
@dd : Saman je pun. Janganlah jadi perkasa kat sini. Biarlah ada seorang je Ibrahim Ali kat dunia ni.
pamela should make an open apology by now.
I am not sure what was your motif? Based on the video it is not clear to me whether the initail conduct of the cops were wrong or not. I think your conduct was provocating and baiting the cops to make a mistake and to show these cops were bad guys. I think if I was in their shoes I would have found your behaviour disrespectful. Having said that the cops also did not show good judgement on their part. They should have just issued the summons and have advised you to refrain from taking the movie. It was obvious that you were not scared and your tone was contrary to your feelings of fear. I think this video is mischievious with intent to prove that the typical cop is not a good guy. I think you have shown poor judgement in this instance. Sorry thats my view.
I'm a chinese too and I think what she did is wrong. Why did she video the police while they are doing their job…? they are not asking for kopi…
agreetodisagree..
are you trying to tell us that she is a pyscho..? if so, then we can understand lah whe she acted like that..
yet another attempt to divert the issue.. what's next..? her sixth sense told her that the two officers were possessed by somekind of hantu and have been following her from her house..?
and please.. use plain english.. not all of us here can converse up to her par.. or maybe yours..
She is just trying to defend her own rights. I dont see anything wrong with it. Its u who gave in easily though happen bribery and spoilt our policeman. If everyone can act or have the courage to stand at their own rights Malaysia will become a better country without our enforcer having "special powers" against us citizens.
GO ahead and polish the police shoe and see what happen next decade.
first of all… i think the cops are trying to get KOPI. happened to me before. The S.O.P a.k.a 'modus operandi' is trying to fix you up with a stupid summonse and tell you how much it will cost you legally and the alternative cost to that. If you refuse to play ball then they start to intimidate you.
by signing the summonse, you admit you are wrong and you cannot challenge it in court. She looked at the document to see what was written before signing it. If it says that 'she hit a pedestrian'even though she didn't, would you sign it? So it's a smart move by her. DON'T SIGN ANYTHING.
The cops could have just issued the summonse and then go find another target, but they didn't, WHY? Cos they think they are the BIG GUYS with the BIG GUNS in their BIG UNIFORMS.
Another point to note is that she is ALONE and not a MALAY, and that makes her an easy target for the small fry cops.
too smart for your own good with your ever so "intimidating" comments. and that does not refer to the policemen
Girl, you have an attitude problem. Bottomline, you are wrong for not using the handsfree. Second, don't mock the policeman for stopping you or saman you. Blowing this out like this only made me malu because I am Chinese.
The police were fake so her six sense/subconscious took over. That is why she was antagonistic as she was. It was subconscious and a display of her lateral intelligence. Her actions were appropriate, even if she acted in this manner as guided by her subconscious. This is an example of psychism. Very good video and and example to emulate. Learn from Pam's subconscious at work.
dd, apahal ngan kamu .lu mau komplain pakailah ayat berlapik.
apa kena pulak Nak HALAU….saman trafik wajar buang negeri ke.
Habis kes rogol berlambak tu keja sape nak hukum macamana pulak..
Betoi rasis la otak mu…Beliau tu kepala baran tapi…TETAP
Rakyat Negara ni….guna benak bukan yg kat lutut
Pam, as much as I agree that you have rights, I think the situation would've been different had you shown a little respect.
While you may argue the police themselves lack respect or whatever, they only started to become intimidating when you "provoked" them by showing a lack of respect. To me, it just looks like a poor attempt of fishing for sympathy.
Sorry.
I don't know what did you record this video for? From what I've seen, it's just 2 policemen doing their job. It is you who intimidated them. You provoked them first. Imagine you're doing a job and then someone record you doing it. Would you feel comfortable? NO. I know they are some corrupted police in our beloved country, but this is just pure and blatant fear-mongering.
God bless Malaysia.
look at what you have done pam..
we understand your intention.. sadly u didn't do it correctly..
and to put too much "what if.." scenario or questioning the validity of those officers like some of your sympathizers wrote here clearly showed you guys are trying to divert the main issue..
Pamela Lim, I think you are rude / biadap for instigating trouble with the officers. May you rot in hell.
