From time to time, LoyarBurok is asked to publicise an effort for varius organisations. We have been asked by the Bersih 2.0 Organising Committee for the People’s Tribunal on GE13 to publish this plea by them to ask more lawyers to join the legal team collecting evidence that will be presented at the People’s Tribunal.
When
The head of the Legal Team is Prof. Gurdial Singh Nijar who will give a briefing on Tuesday, 6 August at 7pm. For more details e-mail Meera Samanther at [email protected] or call at 012 313 8850
The People’s Tribunal will be held from 18 to 22 September 2013 in Kuala Lumpur.
What do you need to do
The lawyers will be placed into groups based on the various categories of violations/ infractions.
They will be asked to collect evidence by meeting potential witnesses, document witness statements and draft Statutory Declarations, conduct research on the law of Election Offences, go through newspaper cuttings and so on.
Each group has a team leader .
Every Tuesday , the legal team meets with Professor Gurdial for updates on the progress of work being done, to discuss challenges faced and so on.

Plea for committed volunteers
I hope that this is sufficient information to get lawyers interested to volunteer, and to commit to give up some of their time and energy for this worthy cause.
There is no hard and fast rule as to how much time you have to give . All we ask is that you do your best, and be part of this important process .
Thank you
Meera Samanther
Organizing Committee Member of The People’s Tribunal
