Who is a “public intellectual”? Hitchens explains.
In 2008, the top 100 public intellectuals in the world were listed. Why was no Malaysian included whereas they were?:
Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore
Anies Baswedan, Indonesia
Fan Gang, Hu Shuli, Minxin Pei, Wang Hui and Yan Xuetong, China
Ramachandra Guha, Ashis Nandy, Sunita Narain, V.S. Ramachandran and Amartya Sen, India
Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh
Aitzaz Ahsan, Pakistan
A poll was then conducted. The results of the poll may be found here.
So, where are the Malaysian PIs? Do we have any?
Who would be in your top 5 list of Malaysian PIs? Reply with your list below and if possible, state your reasons.
1. Khalid Ibrahim, Selangor Menteri Besar .. Why? Because of —
(a) his vast corporate experience,
(b) Transparency;
(c) Wisdom;
(d) Clear thinker
(e) Moderately Progressive
(f) Liberal with capacity to be more liberal;
(g) Intelligent;
(h) Rational;
(i) Generous;
(j) Absence of Arrogance…. modest; and
(k) Action orientated.
(2) Royal Professor Ungku Aziz — because he is very well educated, extremely intelligent, realistic man and not proud at all.
(3) Justice James Foong — because of his impartiality, believes in the Separation of Powers, also makes very sound and daring legal decisions.
(4) Still considering 2 more persons… when the time is right.
Thanks for listening.

I agree to NI 1,2, and 4. No 3 and 5 definitely no.
HOW MANY BOTHER TO THINK?
Do we only have a few who think
While there are more around who stink
When the majority don't even bother to blink
So we beg the question "Where's the missing link?"
