The Malaysian Centre for Constitutionalism and Human Rights (MCCHR) is a non-partisan and not-for-profit organisation focused on promoting and protecting human rights in Malaysia. Established in March 2011, the MCCHR carries out two programmes; UndiMsia! (a civic education programme) and strategic litigation.
This year, the MCCHR is carrying out an evaluation of its UndiMsia! programme, in particular the activities that have been implemented from 1 September 2018 to 31 August 2020 under the said programme.
The objectives of the evaluation is to
1) assess whether the activities have achieved the key expected results under the programme,
2) provide a critical analysis of the activities’ strengths and weaknesses
3) provide recommendations to improve its UndiMsia!’s programme so that its mission to strengthen the ownership, participation, and representation of youths on their civic responsibility is achieved effectively.
Please see below the detailed information on the two key expected results, activities carried out under each key expected result and the indicators of success.
Expected Result 4: The availability and accessibility of information for youths is increased.
Year 1 (1 September 2018 – 31 August 2019)
Activity IV.1.1 – Organise three UndiMsiaChats! in local private universities, including getting elected leaders to participate in these discussions.
Activity IV.1.2 – Make information about human rights and democracy available and increase the use of the Resource Centre.
Activity IV.1.3 – Make basic information about MPs available to urban youth voters.
Year 2 (1 September 2019 – 31 August 2020)
Activity IV.2.1 – Organise two UndiMsiaChats! in local public universities, including getting elected leaders to participate in these discussions.
Activity IV.2.2 – Organise four UndiMsiaChats! in four secondary schools in Malaysia.
Activity IV.2.3 – Make information about human rights and democracy available and increase the use of the Resource Centre.
Expected Result 5: Knowledge and capacities of youths on civic responsibility are reinforced.
Year 1 (1 September 2018 – 31 August 2019)
Activity V.1.1 – Establish three UndiMsia! clubs at three local private universities.
Activity V.1.2 – Carry out Sekolah Aktivisme workshops (including IdolaDemokrasi modules) at each of these UndiMsia! clubs.
Activity V.1.3 – Together with members of the UndiMsia! clubs:
Activity V.1.4 – Carry out evaluation of each UndiMsia! club.
Year 2 (1 September 2019 – 31 August 2020)
Activity V.2.1 – Establish two UndiMsia! clubs at two local public universities.
Activity V.2.2 – Carry out Sekolah Aktivisme workshops (including IdolaDemokrasi modules) at each of these UndiMsia! clubs.
Activity V.2.3 – Together with members of the UndiMsia! clubs:
Activity V.2.4 – Carry out evaluation of each UndiMsia! club.
Activity V.2.5 – Implement an Indigenous Fellowship Program (six months).
The evaluation is expected to commence on 1 September 2020 and the evaluation report to be completed by no later than 1 November 2020.
