Ever wondered what lawyers can do on climate change?

MyCJN, the KL Bar Environmental Committee, and LoyarBurok‘s GreenInk will be jointly organising a talk by prominent environmental lawyer, Mr. Tony Oposa, on 27 January 2011, themed What can Lawyers do on Climate Change.

Mr. Tony Oposa is a famous environmental lawyer from the Philippines who was awarded the 2008 International Environmental Law Award by the US-based Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL).

His work includes instituting and winning a landmark class action against his government in a suit brought on behalf of 43 children (Oposa v Factoran), relying on the concept of intergenerational responsibility.

Mr. Oposa will be in KL for a very short trip, but has very gamely agreed to have an informal dialogue/meeting with Malaysian lawyers here. Non-lawyers are welcome to attend as well. He will be discussing what lawyers can do on climate change.

Admission is free, but seats are limited. Please RSVP here.

You can get more information about Mr. Tony Oposa here and here.
